## Recruitment report: 4-star Pitt target cancels final visit before commitment date Four-star linebacker Darren “DJ” Anderson of Olney (Md.) Good Counsel canceled his final official visit to Pitt on Monday, three days before his scheduled commitment date of June 28. Anderson, who is ranked as the No. 17 linebacker in the country and the No. 5 player in the state of Maryland by 247Sports, took an official visit to Pitt on June 10 and was expected to make a decision between the Panthers, Maryland and Penn State. However, according to 247Sports national recruiting editor Steve Wiltfong, Anderson has decided to cancel his visit to Pitt and will instead focus on his upcoming visits to Maryland and Penn State. Wiltfong also reported that Anderson is expected to make a commitment on July 4, the first day of the contact period for the 2023 recruiting class. Anderson’s decision to cancel his visit to Pitt is a blow to the Panthers’ recruiting efforts, as he is one of the top remaining targets on their board. Pitt is still in the running for several other highly-rated prospects, but Anderson was considered to be one of the top priorities for the program. The Panthers are now expected to focus their attention on other linebackers, such as three-star prospect Jaren Kanak of North Allegheny and two-star prospect Sean FitzSimmons of St. Joseph’s Prep.
