Knight Riders Sneak Past Royals in Last-Over Thriller
A pulsating encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur saw the Knight Riders emerge victorious in a nail-biting last-over finish against the Royals.
Chasing a modest total of 153, the Knight Riders found themselves in a spot of bother at 78/4 in the 12th over. However, a valiant 46 from Shreyas Iyer and a crucial cameo from Andre Russell (25 off 14 balls) helped them reach the target with two balls to spare.
The Royals bowlers, led by Yuzvendra Chahal's 2/26, made a valiant effort to defend their total. However, the Knight Riders batters held their nerve to secure a thrilling victory.
Earlier, the Royals had posted a below-par 152/9 on the board. Jos Buttler top-scored with 49, while Devdutt Padikkal (37) and Shimron Hetmyer (25) also chipped in with useful contributions.
The Knight Riders bowlers were disciplined throughout, with Umesh Yadav, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell all picking up two wickets apiece. Shivam Mavi also impressed with his economical spell of 1/25.
This victory takes the Knight Riders to the top of the points table, while the Royals remain in fourth place. The two teams will face each other again on May 10 in Mumbai.
