Indiana Fever Coach Under Fire Once More

Christie Sides Facing Criticism for Handling of Caitlin Clark

Growing Calls for Sides to be Fired

Indiana Fever head coach Christie Sides is facing renewed criticism for her handling of star player Caitlin Clark. With the Fever struggling during the 2024 WNBA season, calls are growing for Sides to be fired and replaced by Clark's college coach, Lisa Bluder.

The latest controversy stems from Sides' decision to keep Clark on the bench for the final minutes of the third quarter in a game against the Connecticut Sun. With Indiana holding a four-point lead, fans believed that Clark's presence on the court would have helped the Fever secure the win.

"Sides' decision cost us the game," one fan wrote on social media. "She needs to be fired immediately." Another fan suggested that the Fever hire Bluder, who has coached Clark at the University of Iowa for the past three seasons.

Sides has been under pressure all season long. The Fever have struggled to find consistency, and they currently sit at 5-10, one of the worst records in the WNBA. Some fans and analysts believe that Sides is not the right coach for the team, and they are calling for her to be replaced.

The Fever fired Marianne Stanley, who had coached Indiana since 2020, on May 25th. Carlos Knox was hired as interim coach, but he was replaced by Sides in September.

Sides is now facing the same fate as Stanley. If the Fever continue to struggle, she could be fired before the end of the season.
